A 501 (3) (c) Non-Profit Organization committed to the historical preservation and perpetual care of the Bueche Cemetery
The Bueche Cemetery is a Historical Cemetery that was originally a part of a 640 acre ranch that Abram L. Bueche purchased from Eliza Jane Wilson on October 13, 1875 for $1,920. Abram L. Bueche (1824 - 1921) and Anna Barabara (Kaderli) Bueche (1825-1905) immigrated in 1854 from Switzerland to Texas and eventually settled in an area known as Fratt, Texas (today known as Windcrest, TX). Fratt TX was removed from the maps in the 1940's. Their infant grandaughter Frieda A. Bueche died in 1892 and is considered to be the oldest grave in the Cemetery.
The Cemetery was officially established in April 24, 1904 when two acres on the Northeast corner of the A.L. Bueche property was purchased by Christian Moehring, John Mueller and C. W. Ackermann. Acting as trustees they created the Bueche Neighborhood Cemetery.
The Cemetery was managed by C. W. Ackermann until August 22, 1921. From August 21, 1921 until January 27, 1975 the cemetery was managed by Ed F. Ackermann, with assistance from Hans Leonhardt. From January 27, 1975 until June 6, 1993 the cemetery was managed by Ivon E. Ackermann and C. W. Bueche, Jr. During this time period, Mrs. Louis H. Morgan, Anton Bueche, and Ella Beck also served on an Advisory Committee to the cemetery. During the last couple of years of this time period George Ackermann also helped Ivon and C. W. with cemetery duties. On June 6, 1993 Don Ackermann was appointed trustee and managed the property until 2002. During this period Linda "Carol" Minard (March 6, 1997) also joined Don as a trustee. The Cemetery owes Don Ackermann a great deal of gratitude for his management during this period. On January 25, 2002, as one of his final actions as the trustee of the cemetery, Don Ackermann obtained an official Texas historical designation for the Bueche Cemetery.
In 2002 Don and Carol were joined by Fred Bueche III, Chip and Donna Bueche, Betty Bueche, and Ken Bueche. On August 9, 2003 this team established a non-profit corporation 501 (3) (c) to ensure the historic preservation and perpetual care of the Bueche Cemetery. The by-laws, charter, and other governing rules established by this team manage the cemetery to this day.
Mission Statement:
